My Journey in Music

The Beginning

It all started when I was just 5 years old. My mother and I would often visit the mall, and every time we did, there was a Chinese woman playing a grand piano. This wasn’t just any piano, it was a grand piano that stood majestically in the middle of the mall, providing entertainment for shoppers, much like the ones you see in hotels.

Every time we passed by, I was captivated by the beautiful melodies that flowed from the piano. I yearned to create such music myself. For a whole year, I persistently urged my mother to let me learn the piano. Seeing my passion and determination, she finally agreed and enrolled me in piano classes.

The Journey

Getting a piano wasn’t easy, but with some difficulty, we managed to get one. Looking back now, I realize how troublesome and persistent I must have been as a child. But as they say, like mother like son.

I continued my piano classes until I was 18 years old. During this time, I completed my classical music course and finally mastered the basics of music. Even midway through this journey, I dreamt of being a composer or an artist on stage.

The Transition

Just after finishing my studies, I decided to learn music production. My first digital audio workstation was Fruity Loops, which I later switched to Logic Pro. For 5 years, I composed music but always felt like something was amis.

The Challenge

The reason? My medical degree. Balancing my passion for music with the demands of medical school was a significant challenge. It felt as though my creativity was being stripped away due to lack of time. For 3 years, I struggled to maintain this balance.

The Breakthrough

But this year is going to be different. This year, I will make a breakthrough and produce music that truly speaks my heart and thoughts through melodies and harmonies.

The Philosophy

For me, music has always been an outlet for my heart, mind, and soul. Every time I look at the keyboard, I don’t see black and white keys; instead, I see possibilities of expressions and the next right step in writing my story better.

This is my journey in music - a journey filled with passion, challenges, transitions, and breakthroughs. A journey that continues to play out like a beautiful symphony.
