Time Management

“Lost time is never found again.” – Benjamin Franklin

Introduction

Time management is a crucial skill that involves the ability to use one’s time effectively or productively, especially at work. It’s about organizing and planning how long you spend on specific activities, which can lead to greater efficiency and productivity.

As a fourth-year medical student, my schedule is often unpredictable and packed with various responsibilities. From attending lectures and studying for exams to working on-call shifts and seizing sudden opportunities to observe in the operating theatre, every day brings new challenges and tasks.

There have been times when I’ve found myself overwhelmed by the sheer volume of tasks at hand, struggling to find a balance between my academic responsibilities, practical training, and personal life. The unpredictability of on-call shifts and last-minute changes often disrupt my plans, making it even more challenging to manage my time effectively.

This experience has taught me the importance of good time management. By prioritizing tasks, setting realistic goals, and making a flexible schedule, I’ve been able to navigate through my busy days more efficiently. Despite the challenges, I’ve learned that with effective time management, it’s possible to juggle the demands of medical school and still find time for rest and relaxation.
